UNIt XII: Universations 215 - 235

215

Too much is made of concentration.
Then it’s OK to wander?
If the imagination doesn’t wander, then it finds itself in solitary confinement.
And that’s a bad thing?
It’s the greatest evil. God himself wanders.

216

Why is there so much to know?
The amount to know correlates with the ability to know.
Then we can know it all?
No.

217

Tokens are thrown to searchers.
What do they represent?
They stand for the part of us that has no need to argue.

218

Who are you free to be?
I’m free to be the wind.
Going hither and yon?
Yes, and invisible too.

219

What happens when the creative process dries up?
A sub-human species appears.
Is this evolution?
It’s devolution.

220

How do you feel about anti-missile defense?
I chose to ignore it.
Don’t you feel defenseless?
Yes, and I love it.

221

Where do you come from?
Haven’t you asked that before?
Probably.
What was my answer then?
You said you came from a place where you no longer existed. But isn’t that true of all of us?
Yes, but how many realize that?

222

Here in the waning moments we draw strength from the past.
How do we know the way?
We navigate by light of reason.
Who are our fellow travelers?
The ones who pay their way.

223

Who are the nations?
The ones who are defined by custom, tradition, and a shared history.
They don’t seem to be much in a sharing mood these days.
Thus they lose their uniqueness.

224

What’s there to talk about?
The moon, the stars, the sun.
Who made them?
They made themselves.
Who makes us?
Little by little we invent ourselves.

225

How big is big?
Bigger than a breadbasket.
How much bigger?
Not much.

226

Why does religion separate us?
It doesn’t.
What do you mean?
We were separated before we found religion.

227

How small is the world?
It’s as small as your reach.
What of those who seek to expand their reach?
They increase their smallness.

228

Did Enoch go straight to heaven?
No.
Where did he go?
His death was invisible, but real nonetheless.

229

Can you be fooled by the obvious?
Only if it’s not obvious to you.

230

How do you distinguish emotional from spiritual?
The spiritual can be likened to an intellectual insight. An emotional reaction is not the forerunner of the spiritual, but the spiritual can result in emotions.

231

Why do some people hold so much power over others?
Because many are willing to be led astray.

232

How do you deal with boredom?
I pass the time without regret. The time passes me with increasing vigor.

233

What is the purpose of your story?
To enhance the twilight.

234

Is every word you say true?
At the time I speak they are true. But I live outside time.

235

Are you glad to be here?
Why do you ask?
Some say that you have traveled far to a place that didn’t deserve you.
To deserve requires understanding. But charity requires nothing.
