UNIt XVIII: Universations 341 - 359

341

What lives on?
The spirit never dies.
How about consciousness?
Consciousness is relative.

342

Do you experience time as we do?
I live in the past, present, and future simultaneously.
How is that possible?
I stretch my soul.

343

Have you ever swatted a fly?
Many times.
Why did you do it?
To claim dominion over space.

344

Why did you shoot the buffalo?
What was I supposed to do? Stand around and be run over by them?

345

How do you like your steak?
Medium rare.
Have you thought about becoming a vegetarian?
Once or twice, but not for long. I don’t like being hungry.

346

The house is taking a long time to build, isn’t it?
Yes.
Why?
Because the builder wants it right, no matter how long it takes.

347

There is talking and sounds of laughter in the adjoining room.
There are some voices that seem out of place there.
Where do they belong?
Back in their cubicles of darkness.

348

Accusations are made too easily.
It’s like we want to believe the worst.
We do.

349

When you began, you chose control, why?
Any other alternative would not have been possible.
So freedom is an illusion.
Not at all. Freedom is possible. But it takes a long time to develop.

350

Are you an advocate of quietness and meditation?
No.
Why not?
The stream may rush around the stillness and there may seem to be activity, but in the end nothing has changed.

351

What is the difference between knowing and not knowing?
None.
How can that be?
Knowledge is both a yes and no endeavor. To know is to shed skin.

352

Do you hear voices?
Only when the noise around me is deafening.

353

Why concern yourself with the miserable existence of these semi-literate creatures?
It’s fun.

354

How can you continue to speak when someone keeps interrupting you?
They’re listening to me. They just don’t realize it.

355

Our lives are simple but tangled.
We’re part of a web and our dangling is usually an effort to get back to it.

356

Our games are never quite as simple as they should be.
Because we don’t play them with childish innocence.

357

We look forward to windswept days.
The blowing dust will invigorate us.
Let’s hope so. Because nothing else seems to.

358

Is life constant?
In terms of molecules, no.
What do you mean?
Do not place your faith in molecular structures.
That makes sense.

359

Whatever happened to that tower they were building?
You mean the one that was to reach to heaven?
Yes.
They abandoned the project due to cost overruns.
